Stakeholder Input Process
Critical to the success of Caldwell County’s strategic
planning process is the inclusion of key constituencies in the
development of the core tenets and priorities of the Consensus
Community Strategy. Reaching out to stakeholders will help
identify some of the key issues that need to be addressed in the
plan. The key pieces of the community input process are:
Focus Groups and Interviews
Market Street will conduct two days of focus groups and
interviews. Two days of community input will include
3-5 focus groups with 15-20 participants each and 10-15 interviews. The
interviews will be with key economic development partners. The
interviews will be approximately one hour in length and will
cover a series of questions relating to the community’s
jobs; health and environment; business and industry; education
and training; and transportation and other infrastructure.
Focus groups will be held with various business sectors, constituencies,
and populations that, combined, provide a good representation of
the community as a whole. The focus group categories and
participants will also be selected with the direction of the Steering
Committee. The focus groups will last about two hours each
and will follow the same basic format of the individual interviews,
meaning the same questions and topics will be covered.
Online Survey
An online survey will allow an unlimited number
of individuals to participate and is an effective way to get widespread
community input. The survey will help determine perceptions of
the community’s strengths and weaknesses, community development
issues, business climate, quality of life, and capacity for quality
growth.
Community Leadership Meetings
Two Community Leadership Meetings will be held, with hundreds
of interested stakeholders invited to attend. At the first meeting,
Market Street will highlight the findings of the Competitive Realities
report to show the strengths and weaknesses of the community’s
business climate. At the second and final community meeting,
Market Street will promote the Consensus Community Strategy, and
energize the community for the Plan’s implementation efforts. Both
meetings will offer attendees the opportunity to provide input on
the work presented and Caldwell 20/20’s strategic planning
process.
